First, a little story. . .

When I was younger, my family owned a little Pekingese. It was cute enough. The problem was, it had been gifted to my parents by my father’s brother who had stolen him from a house full of very abusive children. So. . . the dog hated kids! Nearly every night of my childhood, I was bitten by the little dog! Yet my parents had such an attachment to this thing that they absolutely refused to find him another home. I loathed the dog and (sometimes) my parents!

I’m telling you all this so that you may understand why I am an avid supporter of strict owner liability laws. I do not care if it is a Pekingese or a Great Dane, all dogs and their owner should be held accountable for their behavior. It is completely different than BSL to say that owners of all dogs should be liable but, if you were to read some of the comments below the articles like ones shared in this post. . . Maddening!

Come-on folks! If you raise your dog properly, you have nothing to worry about. End of story.
